Over the past several weeks, I’ve received so many sweet emails asking about Book 5 in the Blessings Bay series, The Unintentional Teahouse, and I'm happy to share that it’s officially my current work in progress.
Like the previous books in the series, this story will unfold through four alternating points of view: Abby, Logan, Mia, and a newcomer to Blessings Bay… Henry.
Abby and Logan are stronger than ever, but new challenges are on the horizon for our favorite couple. It has been such a gift to continue their story from book to book. Watching them grow — individually and together — over the course of the series has brought me so much joy. I’m still very much in the discovery stage of writing, which means I think I know where the story is headed, but my characters have a habit of surprising me.
I’ve adored Mia ever since she first appeared in The Unexpected Inn. She’s sweet and compassionate, delightfully quirky and free-spirited. She tends to sweep into a scene and completely take it over (which makes her very fun to write!). I’ve especially loved researching her job as a foley artist — someone who recreates realistic sound effects for film and television. Such a fascinating career! I can’t wait to see what mischief she stirs up next — and how she continues to grow.
And then there’s Henry.
Henry is a strong, stoic widower with the softest heart when it comes to his five-year-old daughter, Lily. He’s only in Blessings Bay temporarily — hired to renovate the beloved old cinema — but if we’ve learned anything about this town, it’s that people don’t always leave the way they planned.
Mia and Henry are at odds from day one.
She lives in the past.
He’s running from it.
What happens when those two worldviews collide?
I suppose I’ll have to keep writing to find out. 😉
In addition to Blessings Bay, over the holidays I found myself scribbling notes for a brand-new Christmas novel. I am so excited about this one! I can’t reveal too much yet, but the premise feels fresh and unique while still delivering all the cozy, heartwarming, Christmassy elements you’ve come to expect from my stories. I truly cannot wait to share more.
I don’t have official release dates for either book yet, but I promise I’ll send an update as soon as I have something more concrete. At this stage of life — with two littles at home — I’ve learned it’s best to be well into the writing process before committing to deadlines.
